I’m here. Sorry about the confusion. I have family in for the weekend.

Listening to my song, “Circular Logic” from the NJHB “Colossus” album.

    Halfway. Listening to the break.

    And here we go again!

  5. Listen link

    at 03:33:37

I am checking out how chatters can post links.

That works but I wish it opened in another window. This might be an easy fix.

You can right click and Open In A New Tab or Open In A New Window.

I would rather it did that automatically.

I will test the same thing from my account.

Same problem. Like before this may be an easy fix. It’s a php program so if I can find the link I can add the target = top syntax.

    Logged back out.

I’ll do an image. I think it will have the same problem.

Click the link above to see the album art.

I can now edit this post from my account.

    Images have the same problem.

The reason this is a problem is because if someone clicks on the listen link and then the play button they lose the chat page.

If they use their back button they can get back to the chat page but they lose the audio.

I want it to be where if they open an image and say “Cool” in their head and then close the window the chat page is still live so they can reply “Cool” into the chat.

This is Hairy Larry reminding you once again, blues is the mainstream.

Posting as hairylarry while using the Web: field. Let’s see what happens

Posting as hairylarry while using the Email: field.

  15. hairylarry

This does nothing to the post. Let me check something out.

Still nothing. I would like to remove the Email: field.

There are two kinds of users. The admin user and all other chatters.

I can log out of admin and still post as hairylarry using the exact same interface as everyone else.

I actually think that would be better.

  18. Hairy Larry Rocks Link

    at 04:42:23

We shall see. It worked on the admin screen.

  19. hairylarry

    at 04:43:55

    That was easy.

I added target=”_blank” to comments.tpl in the leggero theme.

  20. hairylarry

    at 04:48:22

This fixes the major problem pursuant to more testing.

The minor problem is the unnecessary Email: field.

I can probably just comment that out if I can find it.

Documenting in comments as I go.

This is a link to Delta Boogie.

That worked with the email: field removed from comment-form.tpl in fp-interface/sharedtpls

This time I just commented out the email field using

I think I have finished with changes for today.

I learned a lot about Flat Press.

Flat Press is licensed GPL. I am not distributing the changes but I am sharing the information.

    Here’s their link.

    flatpress.org

Great software if you don’t need WordPress.

I also have Plain Text Blog that I wrote. It is a little more flexible than Flat Press but does not support comments.

Flat Press is filling my particular need for chat in comments with no login necessary. This removes an important barrier to chatters.

I do, however, close comments after each chat. Without doing that Flat Press turns itself into a spam honey pot with no defense against spam posters except Akismet and moderation. I use neither because they add additional layers of complexity which I do not want for this particular application.

I just moderate during the chat and then close the comments after the chat.

I can reopen them, like I did here, to work through something but if the comments are left open they will quickly fill with spam causing headaches.

So, a great program for my very specific needs.

    Enjoy!
